Elementary N4

1-1　～ながら　N4

  • I'm working while studying Japanese.
  • 働(はたら)きながら　日本語(にほんご)を　勉強(べんきょう)して　います。

1-2　～し　N4

  • The prices are low here and the fish is fresh, so I often come here to eat.
  • ここは　値段(ねだん)も　安(やす)いし、魚(さかな)も　新(あたら)しいし、よく　食(た)べに　来(き)ます。

1-3　それに　N4

  • Ms. Tanaka is serious, speaks good Chinese, and also has experience.
  • 田中(たなか)さんは　まじめだし、中国語(ちゅうごくご)も　上手(じょうず)だし、それに　経験(けいけん)も　あります。

2-1　それで　N4

  • The coffee's good here, and you can also have a meal......
  • --- So that's why it's popular, isn't it?
  • ここは　コーヒーも　おいしいし、食事(しょくじ)も　できるし......。

2-2　～て　N4

2-3　～くて　N4

  • 土曜日(どようび)は　都合(つごう)が　悪(わる)くて、行(い)けません。

2-4　～で　N4

  • What was being talked about was complicated; I couldn't really follow it.
  • 話(はなし)が　複雑(ふくざつ)で、よく　わかりませんでした。
  • I got ill and took some time off work.
  • 病気(びょうき)で　会社(かいしゃ)を　休(やす)みました。

2-5　～ので　N4

  • There's something I need to do, so please excuse me for leaving before you.
  • 用事(ようじ)が　あるので、お先(さき)に　失礼(しつれい)します。
  • What did you do with your bed?
  • --- My room is small, and it was in the way, so I gave it to a friend.
  • ベッドは　どう　したんですか。
  • 部屋(へや)が　狭(せま)くて、邪魔(じゃま)なので、友達(ともだち)に　あげました。

3-1　～のに　N4

  • Even though we had a date, she didn't turn up.
  • 約束(やくそく)を　したのに、彼女(かのじょ)は　来(き)ませんでした。
  • I have to work today, despite the fact that it's a Sunday.
  • きょうは　日曜日(にちようび)なのに、働(はたら)かなければ　なりません。

4-1　～ば　N4

  • When spring comes, the cherry blossoms bloom.
  • 春(はる)に　なれば、　桜(さくら)が　咲(さ)きます。
  • When the weather's fine, you can see an island over there.
  • 天気(てんき)が　よければ、　向(む)こうに　島(しま)が　見(み)えます。

4-2　～なら　N4

  • If you're going on a trip to Hokkaido, June is best.
  • 北海道(ほっかいどう)旅行(りょこう)なら、6月(ろくがつ)が　いいです。

4-3　～場合(ばあい)　N4

  • Please contact us if you can't get to the meeting on time.
  • 会議(かいぎ)に　間(ま)に　合(あ)わない　場合(ばあい)は、連絡(れんらく)して　ください。
  • If you lose your card, please contact your card company right away.
  • カードを　なくした　場合(ばあい)は、すぐ　カード会社(がいしゃ)に　連絡(れんらく)して　ください。
  • Please let me know if you need a receipt.
  • 領収書(りょうしゅうしょ)が　必要(ひつよう)な　場合(ばあい)は、言(い)って　ください。 

5-1　では　N4
